Millions Will Die Because Of This Decision
"You cannot ask Africa to sign a suicide pact, an incineration pact in order to maintain the economic dominance of a few countries.

"This is devoid of any sense of responsibility, morality and it is a solution based on the values, the very values which in our opinion channelled six million people in Europe into furnaces."

1. I hope that some of the money going to poor countries will be for condoms.
Birth control pills and surgery will also help. The major reason countries are poor is because they have too many people. Global warming will have less effect if a country can produce enough food.

2. Typical male solution, force women to use birth control
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 04:07 PM by Warpy
when their only value lies in how many sons they've produced. It's doomed to failure.

The only thing proven to have worked is to help women start businesses, to educate their daughters, and to give them value beyond being baby incubators.

If you want to drop birthrates, raise the status of women. It's the only thing that has ever worked or will ever work. Women who have something besides bearing children to look forward to will demand birth control and they will get it.

4. poor countries don't need birth control. they need death control.
as long as the majority of children do not make it to reproductive age, people will continue to have as many as it takes for them to carry on. it is THE most important biological imperative. you cannot override it with logic, math, or anything else.

9. The "responsibility, morality" argument is wasted time in the U.S.
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 03:31 PM by Kablooie
American corporations are structured so that this kind of argument is totally irrelevant.

The only factor that has any weight are short term profits.

And the government is run for the corporations and by the corporations.

10. Not really
The Africans are going to drop like flies once food can no longer be exported to them. They are already a net food importer. Long term effects of peak oil are going to greatly reduce their population, they are far over carrying capacity.
