| Surface temperature anomalies in Australia February 2009 |
 This image received on February 9, 2009 from the NASA Earth Observatory website and posted on February 5, 2009 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite shows a map of Australia with land surface temperatures from January 25 to February 1, 2009 compared to the average mid-summer temperatures the continent experienced between 2000-2008. ------------- Melted metal from the alloy wheels of burnt out vehicles lies on the ground after a bushfire swept through properties in Bendigo.  ------------- |
