Next-generation Ford Focus could top 40 mpg with 4-cylinder EcoBoost
The current U.S. Ford Focus is powered by a 2.0L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that allows for a fuel-economy of up to 35 mpg. The Lincoln C is powered by a 180-hp, 1.6L, 4-cylinder EcoBoost that will return an estimated 43 mpg on the highway when mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Lincoln C is built on the Focus’s next-generation platform. According to Automotive News, while Ford has yet to comment on the fuel-economy of the next Focus, executives say that they have serious intent to use the powertrain from the Lincoln C.

The next-generation Ford Focus will arrive in late 2010.

1. My American built Prius gets 42 on average.
They've been around for about 8 years.

It's time for US Automakers to enter the 21st CENTURY.

No more piddly improvements.

WE WANT REAL 21st CENTURY ENGINEERING.

5. The Prius is not built in America.
Toyota Delays US Prius Factory
Posted Dec 16, 08 8:02 AM CST in Business

(Newser) – It’s not just the Big Three. Toyota has delayed indefinitely the opening of a Prius factory near Tupelo, Miss., the Wall Street Journal reports, in the wake of plummeting demand. The factory was originally intended to build the Highlander sport-utility vehicle; when gas prices hit a high last spring, it was switched to the Prius hybrid. The Prius will now continue to be produced only in Japan.

Much better mileage without pollution control.

In my day, we didn't need fancy safty belts or safty glass. We just bashed our faces on the on the steel dasboads... And We LIKED IT!
