Wow. Just watched 'Manufactured Landscapes'. I'm posting it here under 'environment'

because it made me think even more about the impact of too many people, too much industrialization, too many tech toys (see how our computers are actually 'recycled'), too much globalization/shipping, too much water use, huge landscapes without a blade of grass... many, many things, all with big environmental impacts. It was mostly filmed in China, with another apalling bit in Bangladesh.

It also made me appreciate more the jobs I've had, even the ones I thought were shitty, and it made me feel for the millions of Chinese who do tedious, mindless jobs in their massive factories.

Rather than endlessly depressing, though, the movie was more of a jaw-dropping thing... one massive thing after another. I can't say much of it was hugely surprising to me, but it's one thing to generally know about things, and another to see panoramic images.
