1. I don't think Peak Oil is what he was referring to and lets not forget
T Boone Pickens plan would replace oil with natural gas, something his company owns huge supplies of. I was suspicious of his commercial from day one and now I realize I was right; it is all bait & switch. Talk about wind energy, then when you get the audience switch gears to how much sense natural gas makes since we have so much of it available.

5. Why are you so caught up with Pickens making money?
He starts with the $700 billion we send overseas for oil. Major drain on our countries wealth. And he ends with a 20% goal of wind energy in 10 years. That's not even taking into account solar.

Get behind the Pickens Plan - once the ball gets rolling - there will be no stopping the economic realities of a better way to generate power.

Solar PV company stated that every time they double capacity - costs are reduced 20%. The more they build, the cheaper PV will become, and the more innovations we will see. Plus, PV provides a lot of jobs locally for installers.

Pickens also answered the point about it taking $1 Trillion to build that many windmills and bring them online in 10 years - money won't come from the government - that it will come from private industry.

6. Agreed environmentalist have to use guys like this to
help get where they want to go. Let's use this guy's clout to get something done. Bottom line replace ing NG with wind and using that NG for transport would help the world greatly. Guys like Boone with $$ can make that happen faster than any government org can. IF the problem is as bad as everyone says then we should all be behind this.

2. T Boone Pickens is a lair and a thief. His ilk is robbing the American blind
on one hand and then offering them a resurrected energy supply on the other. When did wind turbines start powering automobiles. Never. :dem:

3. I'm not defending Pickens, however while wind turbines can't power
automobiles directly, they can take 15 to 25% of the oil demand off. That would dramatically lower gas prices. Further, wind powered electricity could power electric vehicles. That would help.

The key here is to take enough demand off of oil to force the price down into the $80 or $90 range.
That would effectively break the existing oil monopoly.

4. Don't knock the potential for wind energy just because T Boone is trying to get rich off it
It's STILL a good idea regardless.

7. Exactly.. it's times like this that you find out who the
partisans for the sake of partisanship are.

Sad if you ask me. Let's use this guy and get to 20% wind in 12 years. Do you folks know how big that would be?
