2. Two issues, one ideology
AGW -- anthropogenic global warming -- isn't about long-term glaciation cycles, it's about the short-term but ruinous impact of humans on climate. In fact, the general trend for the past 250 million years has been cooling, but that is unrelated to our century-long effort to stoke a mini-greenhouse effect.

How could anyone mistake 100,000 years (or 250,000,000 years, for that matter) of paleoclimatology for 150 years of bad industrial planning?

If they aren't blaming us for accusing every warm day on AGW, they're trying to "prove" that a new ice age is on the way, and that "Algore" in promoting a conspiracy to cover it up. I know of nobody outside of the wingnut right and the news media who think like that. In fact, promoting AGW will very probably have the effect of hastening a return to ice-age conditions.

Yeah, changes in solar activity are a Big Deal. So is dumping enormous amounts of carbon gases into the air. I wonder if http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html">The World`s Smallest Political Quiz can be taken while holding one's breath?
