Destiny announces plans for solar parking

Destiny USA announced Monday plans for a sort of solar parking garage to cover 20 acres, making it the largest solar installation in NY. It's part of the company's initiative to go green with Carousel Center.

Press Release from Destiny USA (10/07/07):

Destiny USA announced Monday a partnership with Hereford Capital Advisors to develop and build up to 3.2 megawatts of solar generating capacity within the Destiny USA site. The photovoltaic (PV) array will be in the form of covered parking located on either side of Solar Street covering over 20 acres, making it the largest solar installation in New York State and the fifth largest installation in the country. The installation will represent over 25% of New York's current solar deployment.

...
"We are fortunate to work with a number of country's most progressive developers. Working with Bob Congel and the Destiny team is an exciting opportunity for us. Bob's vision for sustainability and universal design represents the future and we are thrilled to be a part of it," said John Hereford, founder and president of Hereford Capital. "Syracuse will no doubt offer some unique challenges, but we look forward to leveraging our experiences in other parts of the country and believe this project can really raise the bar in terms of what can be done, functionally and aesthetically, in on-site solar generation." ?
