2. After listening to her talk, I think I can pass on the book.

She is essentially saying:

1. what we have been learning lately, about guys Cheney and Rumsfield and all those creeps who go wayyy back to the Nixon era..They are always present in one form or another.
they make policy, carry out policy, make a killing form policy, and are members of a like group which may not ever be recognized in public.

2. That government has been hired out to contractors on many levels and few people now in government even know what the contractors are doing, or realize how much policy influence they have.

3.When people suddenly appear and are quoted as pushing some idea, like going to war with Iraq
or staying in Afghanistan or why it is a bad idea to regulate banks,
those people have a hidden agenda which is not disclosed.

Ok..I saved ya from a 35 minute lecture, but without all the errrs and ahhhs and repeated sentences.
