PATIENCE, even in the most optimistic of circumstances
this is such a mess that we will not feel any positive change to the economy for nine months

Six if we are really, REALLY lucky

2009 will be a hellish year.

So the euphoria needs to give way to reality... and the reality is that we are indeed up a shit creek with no paddle.

Oh and I forgot

Thanks mother fucker, at least Hoover had the good sense to ONLY bequeath a depression... he did not bequeath two wars on top if it.

2. The simple math of it

is that there is really not a whole lot Obama or any other part of gov't can do.

I listened intently to his inauguration speech, and it was a beaut, but the problem remains that the current "free market" capitalist system and it's "rules" - and lack of rules - got us here. It's broken. It's fucking Humpty Dumpty. And we all know what the fairy tale says about "all the Kings horses and all the Kings men".

Something completely new must arise and it will have to be global. Whatever transpires from this mess, it will forever change the world we've known for the last century - or the last few centuries, for that matter. My deepest fear is that - as history does indeed repeat itself - a certain level of despair might present certain opportunities for more war. In the past, war has indeed shown itself to be a "boom" (pun intended) for economies on their deathbeds. The ironic thing, however, is these last 8 years of war have contributed in earnest to our "bust".
