2. Maybe they were looking
for some leadership? Especially since if we go down so do they. Good luck with that.

4. I didn't know allies hated each other

When the publics of the 16 nations covered by the survey were asked to give favorability ratings of five major leading nations the United States, Germany, China, Japan, and France the U.S. fared the worst of the group.

In just six of the 16 countries surveyed does the United States attract a favorability rating of 50% or above.

By contrast, China receives that level of favorability rating from 11 countries, while Japan, Germany and France each receive that high of a mark from 13 countries.

For illustration purposes, the people of Poland give GERMANY
a higher favorability rating than the United States.

6. That's due to anti-Bush administration sentiment.
I'm sure if you find the figures for the Clinton era you'll find them much better.

My Republican co worker says "Who gives a rats ass if Nigeria (fill in the blank country) hates us?"

You know what? I have no answer to him.

8. Thank you. Very interesting figures.
Britain went from 83% approval in 1999/2000 to 56% in 2006
and Germany from 78% approval to 37% in the same time frame!

9. If you're a businessman or a diplomat
it might matter.

In any case I'm sure the Russian and Chinese business communities are happy to take advantage of the situation.

10. And another thing...
most Americans don't even like Bush or his policies so why would you expect foreigners to like Bush's America?

5. Yeah , quick
Kill em all before they start crossing borders.

Most of Europe are your semi willing allies in a gun held to the head kinda way.
Even if we hate your guts or more specifically your presidents decision making gut we still love you!
Just stop pretending to be this beacon of freedom and democracy while epitomizing everything thats wrong with the world today.

Remember it takes a true friend to tell you that despite your delusions of grandeur...you still suck.

11. We hates Iceland
Björk sort of balances out the foul smell of Icelandic banks, but it's the rotten shark you feed the visitors that pushes the scale.

14. considering
(for the most part) the rest of the western world (in philosophy) is QUITE a bit more politically savvy then us americans ..

i'm not sure they hate AMERICA.. i think they just don't like bush & pals (and policies..). i know it's not completely his fault, but letting companies essentially run wild spells doom for normal (lower, and middle class) people. companies have a profit motive, and no one should ever forget that the leaders of said companies would sell their souls to run profits like the gas companies have been lately.
i assume you understand i'm trying to say that they DID sell their souls, and that's one of the primary causes of why we're in such a mess right now.

15. Are you series? Where to start? Lots of wrong assumptions there.
Disliking what an administration has done does not = hate a country.

What happens to USA affects many other countries in the world so of course they are going to try to keep the USA from crashing and hurting them also. This does not = expecting help from USA.

Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 12:17 PM by uppityperson
There are fundamentalists everywhere and it is best to not judge an entire country by a few. Did all Saudi Arabians smash all USAian corporate buildings? Or are you saying they are looking for help from the USA?

I am thinking you are series.
