The truth about coal.
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/032108R.shtml

Why aren't we doing more wind and solar power? We are cutting the tops of mountains off and destroying water tables, polluting the earth, etc.

When I ask about having a new home with solar developers give me a strange look. Why aren't they into it? They aren't building new technology such as point of use hot water, low paint emissions, etc.

The government needs to lead the way...

3. Apparently they need others to get them to lead the way.
Thanks for this.

5. Thank you for the link.
I keep asking builders for energy saving homes but they don't listen. Building your own is OK but you need to send that excess power back to the system so you do save.

6. I will be interested in hearing how your house building goes.
We are thinking of doing the same. It is much easier to build it energy efficient and independent than to retrofit something. If you learn anything interesting along the way, let me know. You would think in this economy builders would be willing to learn anything for a client. My husband is LEED certified and has some contacts in the business. What part of the country are you in? I was wondering if he might know somebody in your area. Also try to contact your local USGBC office and see what leads they might have.
