'Day After Tomorrow' breaks records, rakes in $155 million
Globe Warms to 'Day After Tomorrow'
by Brandon Gray
May 31, 2004

HOLLYWOOD (Box Office Mojo) – Audiences around the world stormed theaters showing The Day After Tomorrow over the weekend.

Playing domestically and in 102 countries overseas, the $125 million disaster picture raked in an estimated $155 million through Sunday. Distributor 20th Century Fox noted that was the top non-sequel worldwide bow ever, and the movie has yet to debut in major markets Japan and South Korea. The overall worldwide opening record still belongs to The Return of the King, which earned $250.1 million in its first five days domestically and in 28 territories.

Overseas alone accounted for an estimated $85 million. Breaking the regions down, Day pulled in $53.9 million from Europe, $19.2 million from Asia and $11.9 million from Latin America.

Domestically, director Roland Emmerich's eco-epic took in an estimated $70 million at 3,425 theaters for its three-day Memorial frame, delivering the biggest opening ever for a disaster picture -- eclipsing Emmerich's own Independence Day's $50.2 million.

Do a google news search on Day After Tomorrow and see neo-con heads exploding over this "entertainment." I love it!

1. I saw it
It was a little better than I thought it would be, but it was basically a special effects movie. Obviously the Bush campaign is already hiring PhD's to say that the movie is bunk.

3. Greate Movie
The movie was good by the end was will corny, most of these types of movies are.
The movie was real anti republican and anti-snow
in the movie the vice president could have been Chaney except for the part where he apologizes at the end... LMAO

4. Brrrrr...getting chilly.....
Great couple of hours of schlocky entertainment. You must see it on the big screen to do the fx sequences justice.

Nice humorous touches throughout the movie, combined with total bullshit anomalies - sometimes combinations of the two - such as the President's stirring speech to the sprawling US asylum camps in Mexico, delivered on....the weather channel !!

5. Good Movie, 2 hours of solid entertainment
I liked it, but I have a question for you. Did the movie's president bear a resemblance to Al Gore? I thought he looked like Gore!

6. Yeah me too!
He did look like Gore.
The VP really did look like Cheney though..

Anyway, I didn't enjoy this movie very much at all.
