I just e-mailed CNN with a complaint
after reading their "headline" for the top story...

I wrote this to 'em:

Editorial slant...for crying out loud, folks! For this story:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/24/911.commission/index.html

you've used the front page headline "Panel Member Challenges Clarke's Credibility". (see at http://www.cnn.com ) Have you read your own story? It's a large article covering both days of testimony and all who testified, as well as many who unfortunately chose not to, for various reasons. All the way at the end of that treatise there's ONE statement by Lehman saying Clarke "had a credibility problem" (which Clarke parried well)...and another statement by Kerrey defending Clarke's integrity.
The headline you chose for the story may get you extra readers, but it's a partisan cheap-shot that is bound to influence those who don't read the entire article. Thanks for not getting the truth out there yet again.

If it's still headlined that way, feel free to bitch 'em out yourselves...

1. I heard John Lehman attack Clarke on NPR this afternoon
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 06:01 PM by yardwork
and I thought he sounded hysterical. Clarke responded very well - succinctly and to the point. Very calm.

The Navy, imo, has some credibility problems of its own in this area. They were involved in Iran-Contra up to their eyeballs. Lehman may count on Americans having poor attention spans, but this is one American who remembers the 1980s very well.

2. Headline has changed:
Clarke: Bush didn't see terrorism as 'urgent'

:kick: Tell 'em!

3. On the front page?
http://www.cnn.com

I just re-checked it and it's the same sensationalist crap. :(

4. CNN International vs. CNN U.S. Version

You can toggle between the two at the top right of the home page. It's pretty typical to see different headline slants between the two.

5. No - it hasn't.

"Front page" would be the key words I so neglectfully missed.

So sorry - went from the story page, onto the video, and then back to the story page (where the headline is different) rather than front page. I'm bad for getting your hopes up. :spank:

8. I've gotta love their perpetually scowling Condi these days
All these Condi scowl photos will sure turn voters on to the Dimwit's side.

9. CNN on Clarke
Yeah. CNN isn't the brighest apple in the bunch, but they're still brighter than some.

Slightly off topic, but Clarke isn't exactly the sort of savior that liberals are painting him to be. He supported changes to a privacy act that created a corporation loophole.

You can read more about Clarke's record, and the interesting paralells between Clarke and Nixon's John Dean at http://www.rawstory.com
