CBS mulls cancel of Reagan mini series
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 — CBS is considering canceling or postponing its upcoming miniseries “The Reagans” under mounting Republican criticism that the production inaccurately depicts the former president and his wife, Daily Variety reported Monday.

ALSO, THE DIRECTOR of the four-hour TV movie, Robert Allan Ackerman, has quit the production over creative differences with CBS executives who have insisted on numerous last-minute alterations to the miniseries, the Hollywood trade paper said.

Variety, citing unnamed sources linked to the production, said Moonves will decide in the next few days whether to pull the miniseries from the network’s November schedule altogether and possibly reschedule it for a later date once he is satisfied with the final edits.

However, if Moonves goes ahead with plans to air “The Reagans” on Nov. 16 as planned, the final product is likely to differ substantially from the film that Reagan supporters have criticized, with many controversial scenes heavily edited or cut from the production, Variety said.

Can this get any more absurd?

1. you can show every kind of scandal
involving JFK or LBJ(and Clinton) but when it comes to Reagan and the conservatives get their dander up then the liberal media (CBS) will back down.

13. Truth is in the eye of the believer
The efforts of the fanatical right to repress any dissenting opinion is consitent with what one should expect from the "Ministry of Truth." What I find surprising is that they haven't used the Patriot Act to ban the showing of The Reagans. The next thing they'll try to convince us that Richard Nixon wasn't a crook.

5. CBS = "conservatives be sacred"
You'd sort of think after the spotlight last night on the daring broadcasting they've done in the past, that Moonves would feel emboldened against these idiot Repugs....

Frankly, though, I think they would be better to shelve it indefinitely, rather than yield to pressure to edit it down to nothing. Show it immediately after the DEMS (hopefully) take back the WH.

7. Release it on the Internet.............
Sad that we live with people who can't bear to hear/see the truth. The RNC is behaving more like the old Communist Party every day.

8. I'm happy that it won't be shown on my rabbit ears.
Even with the negatives in the movie, I'm sure the script is full of false glorifying moments-- in the interest of neutrality. I would hate to see Hollywood writing the history books. Send it to Showtime where nobody will see it. Just like that W. Bush 9/11 movie.

12. I'm on the side of common sense
Even if they made a movie with some stinging jabs at Reagan, I'm sure the movie isn't going to be a total slam fest. Sure, I haven't read the script, but if the movie is going to play to network audiences, it won't have quite the bite I would want to see. I would hate to invest the time in watching the show if they are going to portray Reagan as single handedly ending Communism, or any such garbage. If they show any of his presidency in a positive light, it would be too much for me.
