Did you hear that amazing caller on Springer this morning?
Made me glad I didn't give up on Springer...

An 86-year-old lady who's the mother of Andrew Goodman's best friend. She told the whole story of learning Goodman was missing in Mississippi and practically living with the Goodman family through their ordeal. How her husband went to Mississippi to help the search and the frightening stuff he encountered -- even when he was bringing the body home. She also mentioned that even back then there were lots of good people who opened their homes to searchers, putting themselves in danger.

She concluded that we had to learn not to tolerate outrages even if they don't affect us directly. It was an amazing call. Based on what she said at the beginning, I got the feeling that she was most comfortable calling Springer.

I don't like him, and I can barely tolerate most of his callers (even the ones I agree with), but I do think he's filling an important niche. In any case, if you missed that lady, you missed something.

:applause:

2. I heard it and I could not agree more...
I've taken to shutting off Springer after listening through morning sedition. He's not my cup of tea.. But his gentle manner does seem effective for some audiences we'd not reach otherwise.

4. I'm on the West Coast
Unfortunately, he replaced Morning Sedition on my station. I have to stream Mark and Marc out of Sacramento. IMHO, they're one of the best shows on the whole network.

But I do think Springer is contributing. I've heard more than one of his callers say that he changed their minds. As much as I adore Randi and Franken, I think they're informing and encouraging the choir (which is very valuable, imho) more than they're changing minds.

7. Download from archives and listen each day. Just now listend to the 86
year old lady. It was very moving, and the point she made about not tolerating outrage is good advise for us all.

Love "Springer on the Radio) never watched the tv show, so have no pre-conceived ideas of him.

When he was talking about his parents and them coming to America, you could tell he was chocked up. Tenderhearted and a good man - also his sense of humor is really great.
