How many non-DUers support Kucinich?
My guess: not many
Therefore, we know that when we see polls we see the DU population, divided by 3, since those are the only Kuciny people.

1. No one in my local Kucinich network....
is awark of DU..Suspect they are too busy helping Kucinich to spend much time net surfing. I should tell them about DU and let them know how helpful it has been in gathering lots of information...

2. The number on my state's mailing list of Kucinich supporters is

about twice as large as the totals for Dean on DU polls so I seriously doubt that your statement has any merit -- except, of course, as flamebait.

(None of the other DUers who support Dennis Kucinich live in my state, BTW.)

3. Aside from the few Greens I know at school...
... I've met exactly one Kucinich supporter at any statewide (IL) Democratic event I've attended; in contrast, I know hundreds who support Dean, Kerry, Clark, Gephart, Edwards and even a handful who support Carol Mosely Braun.

10. I know at least 3, I suspect maybe 5
which is pretty good since I don't hang around people who are political. One person has three buttons on her backpack though: Dean, Kucinich, and Braun.

4. Of everyone in my local Kucinich campaign group

I think exactly 2 knew anything about DU. It's been mentioned at meetings and blank stares ensue. This place isn't the be all and end all of the policital sphere.

I don't even come here much because of some of the idiocy and egos that parade themselves around here. My life is much saner and calmer for it.

6. Is this a serious question?
My Kucinich group and the other one I am closely connected to in a college town...have never heard of DU. I used to tell them it was a great place but with all the divisiveness & flame wars....I don't suggest they visit anymore.

I have seen more DK supporters than Dean and we are growing....the fact they aren't on line isn't a real big surprise. Most of us are out DOING!!
and you discount the Indigenous population also, many of which are not on line.
Did you see Dennis' First Nation page on his website??
http://www.kucinich.us/firstnations/

Polls are a serious joke....in a way, so is Meetup and other internet only ways of determining voters...cyberspace is great but the real world still prevails...

Peace
DR

7. There's an active Kucinich Meetup group here...
In a small conservative-leaning city of 100,000.

This seems a pointless thread.

8. I can count on one hand
the numbers of DUers in our state organization in MN-- and we have AT LEAST 100. Most of our supporters are barely computer LITERATE, much less know (or even care) what DU is.

That's because most of Kucinich's support comes from working people who don't have money (or time) for such "luxuries" as posting to some internet chat board, or subscribing to cable so they can watch CNN and Faux News. Most of our people are out working the streets, knocking on doors, getting the word out any way we can, in between their jobs, families and other committments.

Your assumption is faulty, and it will be proven so in Iowa.

9. Yeah, in MInnesota for Kucinich
there are exactly four DUers (no name no slogans, myself, wheresthemind, and dpbrown).

There are a lot more than just us, like the 1200 to 2000 (depending on whose count you believe--the highest number was from Minnesota Public Radio, not us) who turned out in Minneapolis to see Dennis on a weeknight when two other high-profile events of interest to progressives were going on.

I don't know exactly how many DK supporters there are in the country, but certainly more than the polls indicate.

12. Good point, Lydia
according to NPR at the last rally, there were 2000 there. The rally also happened in the same week that Al Franken AND Howard Zinn were in town (in fact, Zinn was on the same night-- it was a tough choice). It would be safe to say that there would have been even as many as 500-600 more there if Franken and Zinn hadn't been in town.

All I know is that our weekly campaign meeting attendance has continued to grow exponentially. Since I've been attending them (only a couple months), they've doubled in size. We've got the most active and most organized campaign in the state....and we're only a couple of hours away from most of Iowa, too.

As I like to say, just wait until the morning after Iowa. There's going to be a lot of very suprised campaigns and people.

14. more than four actually
Count me as MN for Kucinich. I'd never heard of DU until Alex and Dan mentioned it at Kucinich meeting last June. Also, I see ErasureAcer below states s/he is MN for Kucinich. There are probably still more.

But the point stands. Many, many MNs for Kucinich are not online here or anywhere. The suggestion that Kucinich supporters are over represented on DU strikes me as off base and without support. Frankly, probably more neo-luddites in DKs camp then any other.

Well good. We're out here, we're busting our rear ends to get him the nod, and people like you ought to be scared. We're about to blow your doom and defeat meme out of the water.

15. You would probably be wrong
I'm sure there's a lot more people than you would think. I hope even I'll be surprised come the caucus in Iowa.

And hey, count another one in MN 4 Kucinich, too:-)

17. DU is but a small part of the world (contrary to popular belief)
Polls are bogus too (as I found out canvassing). I only look at them for dynamics (going up or down trends). The media already called this race - but the primaries haven't even started (also concluded from canvassing)
