http://c-span.org/VideoArchives.asp?CatCodePairs=,&Page=1

Kerry fans: Check minutes 18:20 to 19:12 on how Shapiro's views on Kerry changed the most. He concludes that Kerry is "probably the candidate that I'd most like to go out for a beer with."

Segment on Kerry lasts for another 2 minutes, ends at 21:14 on the tape. Shapiro tells story about flying to New Hampshire with Kerry piloting.

4. For those who without RealOne Player re Shapiro's view on John Kerry...
Walter Shapiro said that, after spending so much time traveling with John Kerry, his view changed the most about Kerry. Shapiro said that he "had accepted the orthodox scene from afar, the Washington view, that Kerry was too haughty, too arrogant, too caught up with himself to be a likeable guy."

And Shapiro found him to be "very likeable, very accessible, very bright, and a tad melancholy, but psychologically intriguing."

And Shapiro added, "I do say in the book that he is probably the candidate I'd most like to go out for a beer with."

5. That meme about Kerry being a phony started in the Nixon White House
and used to smear Kerry in newsrooms for 30 years. Sad, how difficult it is too shake GOP generated memes. Sadder that some Democrats parrot that meme to serve their own political agenda over the truth and the betterment of our nation.

6. Of course, Kerry opposition won't care
He'll always be a frigid aloof Mass. liberal whose great liberal credentials never get in the way of him being Bush-lite or a panderer.
