Kerry Loses It
DERRY, N.H. (Reuters) - Maybe it was the ginger tea or the homemade brownies, but Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry ran a gamut of emotions on Wednesday, angrily denouncing President Bush as "dead wrong" on Iraq and shedding tears at a jobless woman's story.

Kerry, a senator from Massachusetts and a Vietnam combat veteran with a reputation for aloofness, lost his composure when Barbara Woodman of Concord told him how she was battling to educate her children after being laid off from a publishing company.

"I don't care how many jobs I have to work, those kids are going to college," she said. "And if I can, I'll do whatever it takes to make this country stronger."

Kerry, sitting beside her in Mary Ann's Diner, a popular small-town New Hampshire stop for 2004 presidential candidates, choked up and his eyes watered.

"That's very moving. It really is," he said, wiping away a tear. "No, it's tough."

4. Why...did you tire of reading the scores of articles
where Dean bashed Kerry, the other candidates and the Democratic party that he only recently chose to represent after 11 years of usually siding with the Republicans?

2. I don't get it
How are two opposing opinions both wrong on the war? What kind of "right" position is he trying to set up? I'm very confused about what he's doing with this issue now.

3. Its simple really
Hes making excuses for what was clearly the wrong thing to do. I figure if he keeps trying he will eventually come up with something people will swallow.

He's a sympathetic man, and it was sweet of him to cry.

7. Yes, and he has the lifetime liberal record to back that up.
Not to mention how he risked HIS life many times over to rescue others. That's why he'll get the firefighter's union endorsement.

6. Why didn't he just write her a check for $50 grand and say, 'Hell we've
got $700 million bucks. Hope this helps.' I hired a group of financial consultants to calculate Kerry's cost for this 'emotion' and how much this helped the struggling lady. Results-$0.00

10. gee doc funk
Its shit like this that makes me rise to the occasion and defend Kerry. Really is stupid shit and I think Kerry is a lot better than many give him credit for. Interesting isnt it, that I a Kucinich supporter would defend Kerry, I should "hate" him for more reasons than the anti Kerry, Dean supporters too.

12. Tweety used it as an opportunity to tear at Kerry
Edited on Thu Sep-04-03 07:49 PM by blm
and then he turned around and quoted some tough statement from Dean. Maddening to watch the repeat of the way Gore was treated in favor of Bradley and Bush. I didn't think Tweety would be so blatant after getting caught generating 17% of the bad press against Gore.
