All you need is this guy to play some polka. The guy on the left may come in handy too. :hi: the photo is of Al Gore and Dennis Kucinich.

14. Please, Al: DON'T DANCE!!!

Seriously, if it could ever become a reality, it would be cool to see the Dem candidates come together for a jam session.

Democrats Unplugged.

6. How about...
How about giving W a bunch of pots and pans and a spoon? He could whine while he beats on the pots and pans and it would seem so natural!

He also plays harmonica!

Maybe they'll use Edwards' nifty bus for the tour?

9. The Short Bus ?
Too many jokes can be made from this picture. Is Edwards compensating for something? Is Dean... 'special'? I could go on all night.... Okay, I coudln't seeing those were the only two smartass remarks I could come up with.

8. True Unity
Before the primaries, before the attack ads get really nasty, they should do a jam together to show that no matter what, they are both Democrats and they are both working to make the party stronger and retake some power in Washington.

12. First one to play Stairway to Heaven loses my vote
Dean plays blues, at least he did at this event. What kind of music does Kerry play, Dr. Funk? What's his musical taste, anyone know?

16. I think he was playing Spanish Caravan
I saw Kerry in this store on C-Span's The Road To the White House Series. He was mostly fiddling around, trying to find a guitar he liked. He was looking for nylon strings I think, but then again he could have been trying to get one that wasn't. Sorry, I'm not much on the technicalities. He was a little nervous. He said it was the first time he played in front of so many people. But he did seem to talk credibly with the slacker guy running the store.

According to the New Yorker profile, he used to blast Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix from his PT boat (even before Apocalypse Now!). I'm not sure if he's learning to become the next Jimi Hendrix. Somehow I can't picture that. My guess is he digs the acoustic sound. Maybe he could play Hear My Train A'Comin (Hendrix fans will know what I'm talking about).

15. I like this
Dean and Kerry people having fun together. That’s the way it should be. If the Dean people would lay off Kerry I’d lay off Dean and give him some props.

He actually looks good in that photo. Looks like he is really getting it done. John looks like he’s concentrating too hard.

RE Kerry’s music: I’d be the Beatles, Dylan, that kinda stuff. Yea buddy.

17. I remember from somewhere that he was playing "Yesterday"
I think it was a Teresa Heinz article and how she was impressed/distressed that Kerry was taking guitar up so late in life. She liked that he loves challenges, but said it was a little hard on the ears at times.

19. LOL

I think John is the type of person who always needs to be challenged. I played drums in a rock band for quite a while and when I got 31 or 32 started taking up guitar. Now at 34 I’m not very good, but I can play some things that sound really good.

As far as Kerry…You can tell he is really “working hard” in that picture. Which is cool…If Kerry has the kahunas to play for people as a novice then all the kudos to him.

18. Anyone Else
craving for an appearance of both candidates on late night television playing the guitar?

I do believe Clinton's sax playing really connected him to people (a lot of band geeks out there). This would do the same for Kerry and Dean (so long as they don't try to sing witty Filk music... well, okay maybe the Ballad of Captain Kirk).

22. Kerry plays Classical Gas
Dean plays the blues.

Kerry nibbles a cheesesteak sandwich daintily.

Dean walks around the fair eating a pork chop on a stick.

I'm in Dean's corner on this one.

23. link to Dean on harp
http://desmoinesregister.com/extras/audio/caucus2004/030814-dean-blues3.html

not the best song I've ever heard, all you could charitably say is "catchy", but Dean is jamming pretty well for a spur of the moment thing.

Love his shoutouts at the end of the song -- "You have the power, from the democratic wing of the democratic party, take your country back".

He shouldn't oughta take up singing though, definitely stick with the harmonica Dr.
