Clinton camp looks to supporters for advice
Clinton camp looks to supporters for advice

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) campaign, reeling from 10 unanswered losses to rival Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), is giving supporters a chance to weigh in on the campaign with senior officials Thursday morning.

Supporters who phone in will be able to ask questions and offer advice to campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe, political director Guy Cecil and Roy Spence, a senior adviser, according to an e-mail obtained by The Hill.

In the e-mail, the Clinton campaign invites those on the list to join the call at 11:30 a.m. because “we want to hear your thoughts, advice and questions as we move forward to the March 4th primaries.”

The e-mail could suggest that Clinton’s campaign has hit a wall after a string of decisive defeats and been confronted with a media environment that is increasingly skeptical about the New York senator’s ability to right her listing ship. The former first lady’s camp has also pursued an increasingly negative tone with regard to Obama, citing plagiarism charges and arguing that the Illinois senator offers only rhetoric.

2. Take out your hubris plank and dial down the inevitability. People
have their own minds. Listen to real people for a change.

3. Just a bogus excuse to pressure for more $$$/"support"
This is an upscale version of another old school fund-raising device. You get an envelope in the mail stamped "Urgent" "Opinion Poll" "Make Your Voice Count". Inside there's a series of no-brainer questions of the "are you in favor of motherhood and the flag" type.

Then there's a paragraph beginning: "If you want Candidate X to make YOUR choices a reality, send $$$$$ now! The need has never been greater! yadda-yadda-yadda".

My questions: How many people on The List? What was the minimum/maximum contribution of each?
So easy to pick out donors who haven't gotten near their legal maximum donation yet, get em on the phone and then hit them up for more. Anyone who calls in obviously still thinks Clinton can pull this out of the fire. We've already read that the Clintons were having trouble getting takers for all those $2,000 a plate fundraisers planned for Manhattan.

And that will be good money after bad. They'd be better off to contribute their cash to Dem candidates from the House or Senate.

4. I support
and donate to Senator Clinton.. I contribute 20/month plus whatever I can in between. I got this email, but I feel she can not do any thing to salvage her campaign. The public is in love with Obama and his fuzzy warm happy words. What Obama preaches I am all for, but its unrealistic. He can not do the things he promises because the ruling class will not allow it. We may vote for change in a president but when it comes to congress and our very own state goverments its business as usual. Also the Republicans will probably destroy him in campaigning and debates come the general as they always do.
