Congressman Bishop endorses Clark

Georgia U.S. Rep.Sanford Bishop endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark on Wednesday, saying the former NATO commander has the skills to lead the nation in uncertain times.

I believe that Gen. Clark will bring leadership and expertise that we so sorely need, said Bishop, speaking at the Georgia state capitol.

Bishop, a Democrat from Albany whose district includes several military bases, also took a jab at President Bush, saying Clarks military background would help him correctly read and understand intelligence.

Critics accuse the Bush administration of misrepresenting reports about weapons of mass destruction to justify the war in Iraq.

Bishop joins a list of Clark endorsements that includes former Atlanta mayor and U.S. ambassador Andrew Young and former Secretary of the Navy John Dalton.
