Dean rallies supporters
I had a great New Year's for Dean Party last night and this article appeared as the top story on my local paper's, the Norwich Bulletin, front page. The political columnist for NB attended my house party.

KILLINGLY -- Georgette Vachone of North Grosvernordale hasn't been involved in political campaigns in the past, but decided to attend a house party for Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean in Killingly Tuesday night.

"I've just been thinking lately that maybe I should be involved," Vachone said. "Or at least, learn a little more about the candidates than what I know from listening to public radio."

Vachone said she hasn't made up her mind yet regarding any of the Democratic candidates. She's hoping to learn more about each, and look for one who cares about issues that she considers important -- the environment, national health care and equal rights for everyone.

About a dozen Dean supporters attended the Killingly event at the home of former Killingly Town Committee Chairwoman Virge Lorents, one of 29 such parties held across the state Tuesday night.

I've got 4 Dem Town chairs in my area supporting Dean and next week I start contacting the rest. I'm excited!

1. I went to a nice party
in South Everett (WA) last night. It seems that people who were never before active politically, are working to throw Bush out.

Presumably Bush is enjoying the same. "Salad Jackers", good name, that one.

2. The newspaper recognizes Dean's strong support in Liebermans' home state.
Dean, more than any of the other Democratic presidential hopefuls, has mobilized a strong grassroots campaign in Connecticut, and in particular eastern Connecticut, mirroring the kind of grassroots effort that has propelled his candidacy to front-runner status. More than 200 people originally signed up for the Norwich Dean Meetup group, a group that is now splitting itself into three groups with new groups forming in Killingly and Waterford.

Dean's popularity is particularly surprising because it is evolving in the home state of one of his rivals for the Democratic nomination, Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman. About 40 Democratic town committee chairmen and 20 elected officials have endorsed Dean publicly.

3. I wasn't able to attend the one here
but I donated to it. We're closing in on the 14.8M mark!
