Recommendation to Gov Dean for response to latest attack ad
Edited on Fri Dec-12-03 10:06 PM by unfrigginreal
I would like to see the campaign produce a commercial with supporters appearing and condemning it. If the Democratic party will stand for this bullshit then let them share the blame.

Let supporters tell the audience about why this type of ad shows just how out of touch our party has become. That we would find it acceptable to use such dirty tactics against one of our own is proof that the party must be changed.

1. Grreat Idea! This type of Garbage has to be
addressed in a very special way! And having of the force of good, honest, admired, respected People condeming it as the trash it is would be the absolute best way.

2. We musn't use ads that basically
privelege the Bush worldview. That gives strength to Bush. I realize that the world is pretty much now defined in the ways Bush created, but we must create an alternate perspective or one will never come about. Not that I deny people do wake up and want to destroy some aspects of Western civilization, but why not just talk about a war of civilizations while we're at it.

4. Good
but I would actually do this.

Narrartor Desperate people do desperate things. They run ads like these.

First clip Chamblis ad against Cleland. Show pic of Osama.

Second clip This ad against Dean. Show pic of Osama.

Narrator Sadly that desperate attack worked in Georgia. Now some Democrats are trying it again. Don't you let this work. Despiration is for Republicans. It is for a party which has no ideas. Don't let these desperate people get away with this.

5. I have another recommendation

I think your idea is a good one, but here's mine - copied and pasted from one of my posts in GD, addressed to Dean supporters in general:

It (this ad) comes out of the Republican playbook. But please consider that it also reflects the anxiety of a number of undecided voters (Democrats and Republicans). They want to know if Dean is a candidate they can trust on issues of national security. Now it's Dean's chance to tell them.

Basically, what I'm suggesting is that Dean could use the attack ad as an opportunity to rise above the split in the Democratic Party infighting, as opposed to bashing back. That's what I would like to see.

Edit: I'm not suggesting that Dean let the ad itself define what the issues of national security are. Dean should take control and take ownership of the issue, pointing out both what is wrong with the GOP definition and also what is right with his positions.

Go post this to the blog:

You do know there's a Dean Creatives (or similarly named) group with a forum somewhere, don't you?
