Despicable GOP scare tactics to be used by Dem group to hurt Dean
Group to broadcast new ad criticizing Dean

A new ad questioning Howard Dean's national security credentials is backed by a group that includes former supporters of rivals Dick Gephardt and John Kerry.

The ad shows a picture of Osama bin Laden and says that Dean, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, doesn't have the military or foreign policy experience needed to take on "those who wake up every morning determined to destroy Western civilization."

The Gephardt and Kerry campaigns say they had nothing to do with Americans for Jobs, Healthcare and Progressive Values or its ads.

The group, which says it is not affiliated with any candidate, includes treasurer David Jones, who has been a fund-raiser for Gephardt, and spokesman Robert Gibbs, who last month resigned as chief spokesman for Kerry's campaign.

Dean is the David fighting the Goliath of both parties.

21. Carter on Larry King says DEAN REALLY CONSERVATIVE

This is a horrible situation that we are in. These guys say they are Progessive!! Are they also ex-Deanies like me?

If Dean is really "conservative" (and I believe Carter) then he has been lying to us, if not directly, then indirectly, and deserves to be bashed.

I want a real "Democrat" in the White House.

When I first started with Dean he was the leader of "The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party."

NOW I BELIEVE THAT WAS ALL PHONY. Maybe these guys are trying to save us from a worst disaster than we know.

3. Absolutely disgusting.
And a good example of why the Democratic party hasnt been able to do more to prevent goals of the BFEE from coming to fruition. Oh, if only they had this kind of gall when it came to standing up to the OPPOSING PARTY. If only.

5. Chickenshits
won't even say who they are. I don't think this will do Dean very much harm though, considering most viewers will assume it's a Repuke attack and be reminded of W's failures.

6. Disgusting
This should not be countenanced by anybody. It's one thing to fight during the primaries, but to pull Rove tricks is beyond the pale. Whoever this is traced back to loses my support forever.

9. What bothers me about it
is not so much just the underhandedness, but that it deals with things in terms of Bush issues. It's almost handing a gimme to the GOP. An ad that said Kerry hates freedom or that Gephardt supports terrorists would do the same. It's continuing the frame of reference that Bush has defined the world in.

12. Is this Tim Raftis's group?
Raftis was Tom Harkin's (now mercifully) former campaign manager.

He's now a VP at a credit counseling company called InCharge Institute, from what I've found via Google. These are the companies that prosper when consumers cannot easily declare bankruptcy and when they must pay their heavy debts every month forever.

Hmmmmm...

13. With friends like some Dems.....
I've been saying for some time now that Dean's armor needs to be more reinforced in back than in front. This is sinking lower than I ever thought possible. I have not before witnessed such a nadir (no pupn intended) of interparty behavior in my life.

Weird, slimey shit.

You called me brain dead, a cultist, an idiot, sheepish and Republican.

I'm sorry, but there is no room for that kind of ilk here at DU.

20. The Dems that are running the ad are the ones acting "as the republicans"
If you aren't outraged by those sleaze tactics, then maybe you should have your own brain activity checked.
