AP: Braun Talks "South Park" With Students
By J.M. HIRSCH, Associated Press Writer

CONCORD, N.H. - Presidential hopeful Carol Moseley Braun says she was trying to speak the language of her high school audience Thursday when she referenced a "South Park" character who is a promiscuous hermaphrodite drug user.

Braun, a former ambassador to New Zealand who polls show in the bottom tier of the nine Democratic contenders, mentioned the character from the Comedy Central cartoon while talking about poverty at Concord High School.

"Even if your mother is Cartman's mom, you ought to be able to go and get a quality education," she said, prompting a round of laughter from the packed auditorium of teenagers.

Eric Cartman, one of the cartoon's foul-mouthed, wise cracking child characters, lives with a woman who appears to be his mother, but actually is his father and is known around town as a promiscuous drug user.

Comment: Oh, come on! This is what the formerly great Associated Press is reporting as news? Like there's nothing else going on in the world?

Good for Carol! She got through to her audience. Bravo.

1. ROFLMFAO!!!!
Only when you're at the bottom of the polls can you afford to make a crack like that. That's hilarious.

2. I like south park...
My wife used a clip from one show to make a point in one of her classes... They're crude, but every once in awhile they have some good zingers.

3. Good for her - that is a real LOL quote
It must be cool to live in New Hampshire and get so much face time with the candidates.

Still waiting for one of them to come to Montana. (Besides Kucinich, who came as a guest speaker for an organization -- so not exactly a public appearance -- but I'm still glad he came. =))

4. I thought it was great
I even made an entry for it at www.blogforcarol.us (shameless plug) which I can't seem to code the link for because of an apostrophe in the url (I knew there was a reason not to do that). Anyway, it's in the middle of the page here:

Comment: Carol has been reaching out to highschoolers in many states. I don't see why the AP shouldn't cover some of those visits as news, especially if she's going to use South Park characters to make her points. It seems a little unorthodox, and it could be working for her. That would be news in the world of politics.

Or did I completely miss your sarcasm?

5. Whats really interesting is that
Eric Cartman regularly bashes Democrats and poor people. He was once on a trip to a poor area in Latin America and yelled to the people in poverty "get a job you lazy bums" then when they told him to be nice he responded "these people will stay this way forever if you dont get tough with them" .

Kind of reminds me of conservatives. Fat spoiled gluttons (listen to Cartman get babyed by his mom and the way he whines to get something he wants from her)who like to pretend they worked for what they have when in reality they could be a heartbeat away from being in a bad lot themselves.
