Why CAFTA is critical & should be the next DU activity
We're in an economic war against the middle class and working people globally. If you can't get a job or have leisure time, you don't have time to be political.
Economic repression is another "gun pointed at your back" to keep you under control.

CAFTA is yet another slave/offshore outsourcing agreement. The buck needs to stop here to get worker rights, environmental standards and a level playing field into a trade agreement.

Currently the US trade deficit is at 5.8% of overall GNP (this is DANGEROUSLY high!) and wages/employment in the US are depressed.

The Pentagon just released a report that China is a threat to the United States. The China PNTR trade agreement enabled China to become 1/5th of the US trade deficit, take a lot of high tech and other industries to China and is now threatening the US with military action. China, in essence, is committing economic war.

It's critical that our nation stand up and stop the "Buy America" plan right from under the feet of her citizens.

Part of the problem is anything to do with trade, budget deficits, taxes, corporation corruption, labor seems to make "eyes glaze over" in activist groups.
Multinational corporations bank on your boredom and apathy.

Economic war needs to bring about as much activist action and outrage as a profiteering war.
Just because no one sees any bombs, doesn't mean we are not under attack.

2. Smashing idea!
What about it, Skinner? How about a little love to the union/worker/environmentalist contingency of the democratic party?

4. is anybody group deciding activities?
Yes the Supreme court is very important, but CAFTA is being voted on THIS WEEK or NEXT!

Why isn't this up for consideration. Economic war is certainly as important as other major issues!

5. I agree, a worthwhile cause!
I like to chew bubble gum while I'm walking, so I have decided to read through the link provided (as well as some other sources)with the goal of writing my representatives about the issue.

I will do more, as I am sure will others, if a practical and worthwhile action is proposed.

You seem very passionate about the issue, I think you should take it to the next stage, and work on specific action proposals for Skinner to consider while providing as much information as possible to the Corps members in general.

You have targeted an excellent issue and I am sure that it is "Corps worthy".

Developing specific action ideas may be all you have to do to make manifest the action you desire, while securing the blessing and leadership of the board(Skinner) along with the full support of it's members (regular board folk like me).

I wish you luck and look forward to considering any actions you may propose!:patriot:

11. I wrote both of my Senators awhile back...
about CAFTA. Glad to say both of my Senators here in Louisiana (a Democrat and Republican) reassured me that they don't plan to support CAFTA. Let's hope no Democrats break rank and vote for CAFTA.
