Question: So I have a Dem-leaning VISA card, but bank is Zions, which
gives 54% of donations to GOP, 45% to Dems.

Question: Which carries greater weight, the VISA card or the Zions Bank that supplies the card? (In terms of supporting a Dem-leaning business)

1. Zions bank is the mormons, isn't it? And you can't get too much
more RW than that. Utah 70.9% Bush country. .... Dickheads, I tell you, dickheads!

2. I think you're right about Zions Bank, but
what I'd really like to know is, who gets more money with every transaction I make using the Visa card -- VISA, or Zions Bank?

Visa gives over 80% of donations to Dems (for what they're worth).
Zions gives 45% of donations to Dems.

3. I have a credit card through Working Assets, my phone carrier
You don't need to use Working Assets long distance phone service in order to get their credit card.

Working Assets supports liberal/progressive causes from its profits. In addition to their phone and credit card services, they also have a website for online activism and action alert e-mails.

When I had the chance to get a credit card from them I did so, and I've pretty much stopped using my other ones.

I recommend them.

PS: They'll also send you coupons for Ben and Jerry's ice cream for signing on.

4. Don't know the answer but have similar question
How much is it helping the issuing bank if the card is paid off every month. I have a card through AT&T, but have never paid a penny in interest. Do I still need to look for a better card issuer?

6. Visa for sure
Visa will always get the lions share of the deal, and far outweigh the Zion's bank in terms of giving power. Remember that they are a money making venture just as the bank is. I think you will find that the Visa contributions coupled with the smaller Zion's contribution will balance more in favor of the DNC, even though Zions is only a minor contributor. Remember that GOP members (and there are a lot of them) who use Zions are contributing to the DNC through the use of their own Visa cards, far more than Zions will be giving to the GOP. In a way it is poetic justice.
