24. George Carlin said something similar over 30 years ago.
"Who first looked at an artichoke and thought 'food'?"

5. More tropical stuff, please!
I eat fruit every day--in fact, it's a joke amongst my co-workers, because lunch is always fresh fruit salad, yogurt, and a handful of raw nuts. But I admit to liberal guilt over buying the good stuff when it's not in season and shipped up from South America. (But I promise I'm green in many other ways to try and compensate!) But my fave, aside from truly ripe, off-the-tree peaches is Pineapple. Yum. And actually, I don't think it's even classified as a fruit, a botanist told me it was a vegetable which is why it doesn't ripen after you pick it.

I also love Mangoes, Papayas, coconuts, et al. Good thing as a vegetarian I have all these choices!

8. ah that liberal guilt
Yesterday I bought a pound of asparagus from Peru, after circling the produce department three times trying to stifle the liberal guilt. The upshot -- it wasn't very tasty. Serves me right.

12. I dislike fruit and almost never eat it; I certainly never eat it raw. Once in awhile I'll have some
apple crisp, and that's it.

17. There was a restaurant in Springdale, Utah
at the base of Zion Canyon National Park called The Bumbleberry, which also had a motel as well. I never DID figure out what a "bumbleberry" was, but it sure made a great pie. Mmm.

21. Pomegranates!
This is my absolute favorite fruit and the really good ones are just coming into season. The best ones come to market a week or so before Thanksgiving. It's is hard to know though if the ones you pick are good though. Usually the bigger ones are sweeter and have large, ruby red seeds. Sometimes you get a not so good one with small seeds that isn't as sweet.

23. Frankly, the ones that don't look so great are usually the sweeter (more ripe) ones.
The plump firm really red ones can be bitter and hard to break into. We always have one for Thanksgiving.

Yes
I usually pick one that is a little soft, not hard as a rock. I'm right about 80% of the time after so many years of buying them.
