What's The Worst Haircut You've Ever Received?
For a while in the late 1990's I wore a mushroom cut - where the sides and back are shaved and the tippy top part left untouched to grow and plume (like a mushroom).

I was rockin' the Jewfro for over a year, with my hair sprouting to a length of almost eight or nine inches (all curly).

I was a mess. But a cute mess, I think.

What about you, what hair disasters would you like to forget about?

1. I had a Wafro myself for a little bit.
You know, the white guy afro. My hair is really wavy and it grows OUT, not long. When I see pictures of myself from that time, I just cringe.

2. My weddding day hairdo
I went in at 7:00 AM on my wedding day and the hairdresser was mad that she had an appointment that early -- I set it up weeks before -- she did a terrible job but I didn't have time for a re-do. My mother camoflouged it with my veil.

3. Flat top
that was not level. Kinda sorta slanted to one side. I forget which side. That was too many years ago.

4. My mother made me get a "pixie" when I was 7. It was horrid. It
is the only time in my life I have ever had short hair and I am now sworn off short hair forever. It was supposed to be a Dorothy Hamill, until my mom and the hairstylist got together and thought I would look "cute" with the stupid heartshaped bangs and the hair slicked down short and tight to my scalp like a cap....I think I may still have issues in dealing with this. ;)

6. My white guy 70's afro. I had people touching it for days.
I think a ruler would have measured it 8 inches deep.

7. Ugh. Sixth grade, Fantastic Sam's
It was just bad. Too short and too wiry.

It took me maybe 12 years to be willing to go even chin-length; I still won't go shorter than that.

8. I chopped of my hair when I was 11
My hair is somewhat long now and generally speaking, it's always been medium to long in length. When I was 11, in the early 80's, the short, rather Pat Benetar-ish hair was in vogue though, so I had my very long hair chopped off. It look terrible on me. I'm definitely a woman who needs her hair. It was the last time I had it short.

9. Eighth grade
During the surfer era,-'60's-. I had managed to grow my hair out a bit, working on the surfer look. One day my father -ever the compassionate conservative- up and hauled my butt to the barber shop and gave the order...A BUZZ. A quarter inch in length all over. I cried, and going to school the next day was hell.

13. Man I remember those days.
I never had a say about how my hair was cut 'til after I got out of the service in 73. Then I just let it grow, for like ten years.

11. My wife cut mo hair once.
"Once", being the operative word. A friend of ours commented that it looked like a rat chewed on my hair. She's never volunteered to cut it since.

12. The "haircut" I took when I got laid off in 2002
my 2003 income was 55% of my 2002 income.

That's the worst haircut i ever had.

14. This last one I got cost me $60 plus tip.
It looked great for about a week. Now, three weeks later, it looks like crap.

I'm going with this one.

15. Tight perm
In the early 1980s, living in Minneapolis during the Reagan recession, I was either working temp jobs or patching together teaching jobs, so I wanted a no-fuss hairstyle.

I got a short haircut with a tight perm, the closest thing I could manage to an Afro.

When my older brother saw it he said, "You look like Art Garfunkel."

I grew it out.

17. easily Parris Island - where the clippers are pulled over your
head faster than they can clip, effectively pulling the rest of the hairs out. Putting on T-shirts was quite different after that, you tend to get stuck in them when you have a buzzcut.

19. 1987 - bad attempt at a mullet
Looked bad, since my hair is relatively fine in consistency.

Luckily now, I just go with a buzzcut (I'm receding as well). No hair hassles.

22. It's a toss up..
Between the ones I gave myself last year (I was too busy to go to my stylist who is about 10 miles away. Fortunately, I have thick, wavy/curly hair so I can kind of get away with cutting it myself) and the 1/2 inch long buzz cut I sported for a while in my early 20's. Dyed purple and magenta.
