1. How sweet it is.
And it was A-Rod making the last out with a swinging strike.

3. I am loving it as usual
... nothing better than seeing arrogant, condescending Yankees fans (who crow and jeer when the Red Sox season ends not to mention throw fits if their team doesn't win the pennant and the World Series year after year after year after year after year after year) shut the hell up.

8. This. The Yankee fans are just too rude
Cheer your team, OK, but there is a limit.

4. I "half-way" agree with you. Great that the Tigers won ...
... but I'm rooting for a Tiger win over the Rangers.

Cheers!

5. Well, as a Rangers fan...
Lived there for 24 years....we'll have to agree to half way disagree.

Rangers - Tigers should be a great matchup.

I'm actually in the Detroit area these days, so it should be a spirited watch party tomorrow!

:toast:

18. Right back at ya!
I am not nearly as devastated by this as is my extended family, led by Republican Stepdad :nopity: , but it would be a shame if all it meant was a free pass for the Gee Dubyas back to the Series, with no Giants to ambush them this time. :(

10. Okay Tigers, I don't like you and you don't like me . . .
But thanks. No Red Sox, and now no Yankees. If the Phillies get knocked out tonight, ESPN won't know what the hell to do. They'll be reduced to running clips of playoffs past when their favorites won, because that has to be better than covering the actual events this year.

The Yankees loss could have been slightly better if Pay Rod had been caught looking at the third strike that ended the Yankees' season. But I'll take his weak whiff.

12. "Weak whiff" is spot on
John Kruk, on Baseball Tonight, commented (with some apparent disgust) about what a tentative, half-hearted swing it was. Said it looked like PayRod was trying to foul it off rather than put it into play.

I admire Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera, who are as classy as any ballplayers who have ever lived, both on and off the diamond, but I still have a deep-seated, bred in the bone hatred of the Yankees as an organization.

15. It's about the players not the owners.
It's their time- I try to leave my politics at the door.

I love it!!! No Yankee$, no Red Sox.
To the media: :nopity:

I hated the after-game commentary last night - it wasn't about the Tigers victory at all, it was about how the Yankee$ lost. :argh:
