Sly and the Family Stone - 'There's a Riot Going On'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There%27s_a_Riot_Goin%27_On

Designed as the answer to Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' On?' - this album is just as relevant today as it was in 1971.

I have loved this album since I first heard it in the 90s, but today, this album has, well, a certain resonance.

Think: Occupy Wall Street.

It may only last a short while - or it will last into the year(s)

But baby, There's a Riot Going On....

1. Perhaps their best album, and a classic nonetheless
Funny you should mention about its relevance given what's happening today. I had the same thought recently re-read Greil Marcus' book Mystery Train, which has a lengthy section on Sly Stone and this record.
