The giraffe must have had to walk forward with its head lowered from 8 feet away, but their tongues can provide an additional reach.

the favorite food of the giraffe is the red squirrel
the purple tongue of the wily animal is coated with an adhesive slime that when tangled in the squirrels fur makes it easy to snack down.
many leading biologists now believe that the giraffe evolved its extended neck so as to make the gathering of its favorite food source easier and less prone to loss of prey by climbing trees.

However, the giraffe will not consume the tail of the squirrel as its extreme fluffiness cannot pass through the extreme length of the giraffe esophagus. ACK!
