Reagan was shot. I believe I was in grade 10 biology class when we heard John Lennon had been killed. I can remember a friend of mine crying.

1. No idea.
Reagan was shot a bit before my second birthday so no clue, likewise Lennon.

I have no solid memories before age 7.

I watched Challenger on TV live.

2. I don't honestly remember
Either for the most time. I remember on Raygun, the newscaster was so pissed off (I think it was Frank Reynolds?) because they kept changing the story, and he finally told the people behind the scene to get the damned story right.

As for Lennon, all I remember was that I was living in SoCal at the time. Most of the time, those incidents are blurred, except for the WTC--I was living in SoCal (for the second time) when my best friend called me from Boston, and told me to put the TV on right away. It was ungodly early, and I was a bit ticked off that she woke me up. But I couldn't sleep after that news, which was horrific.

Strangely enough, the Northridge earthquake struck at 4:30 am, and while I was in SoCal, I was strangely enough awake, and in the bathroom. Imagine being on the hopper when an earthquake struck--it brings new meaning to "scaring the crap out of me."

Another time, during the Whittier earthquake, I was still living in Boston, and always called my mom when I got to work, who lived in SoCal, near the earthquake area. So when I was talking with her, the earthquake struck. Imagine hearing that on the phone!

3. I was on my way to work and just happened to turn on the tv just after the first plane hit the north
tower on 9/11. I called my dad and was on the phone with him when the second plane hit. I thought it was the palestinians. Called my sister too that day. Then I went to work where there were a lot of spouces of servicemen/women who were on red alert (this was in Canada but our armed forces were on read alert too). Really sad day.

11. That was chilling indeed
I was just a kid, barely 18, with no political interest yet, but that guy scared me. I knew it wasn't right.

12. I can still remember the JFK assassination
Kindergarten was only half days in my town back then. I walked home from Kindergarten, and my Mom told me about it. Even at the tender age of 5, I sat glued to the TV.

I know Reagan getting shot was a big deal, but I really can't remember much about where I was or how I found out. I was in the Air Force, and at the time thought he was great (there was SO much I didn't know then), but the details are still fuzzy.

I was working as Supervisor of Flying at Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan in early '86. I stopped at the Officer's Club for a Squadron Aircraft Commander meeting when one of the other pilots met me in the parking lot and told me about Challenger. Most of that meeting was spent watching the TV.

My TV turned on with a timer every morning to the Today Show. I was packing my bag to fly to LaGuardia when I walked into the living room with a cup of coffee to catch up on the news. The first images of the first tower on fire were just being broadcast. Obviously I never flew that day...wound up glued to the TV. I remember someone from airline management calling the house in the early afternoon to tell me my trip wouldn't be operating...as if that were a surprise! He told me, "consider yourself on reserve." "Reserve for WHAT?" I asked. "Nothing is operating!" He hung up.
