Your go-to album when your brain is a little too busy?
It's almost the end of the week, and it's been a busy one for me. Not in a bad way - I'm actually pretty happy with what I've started doing this week - but I'm at that point tonight where my brain is pulling me in about a million different directions. Just as a way of settling my mind, I cued up some music, and what I realized is that I instinctively end up reaching for the same album when I get like this: Bishop Allen's "The Broken String". I'm not sure why. The music is soothing, but not especially happy, I wouldn't say. But every time it plays, it just seems to put me in just the right place.

Here's Flight 180: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLyPO_jj714

Anybody else got an album that does this for you?

5. Four Cornered Night by Jets to Brazil.
The lyrics are surrealist poems and I have to full-focus on them to make any sense of them which puts me at ease.

http://youtu.be/JGsxJPtl21s: My favorite song by JTB and an excellent example of their lyrical style. Pale New Dawn.

11. I'm not the type to use music to calm down....when I am at...
a heavy concentration mode or plan to push on I will play a
whole album's worth of music....
Very often:
"Are We Not Men? We Are DEVO":

Start at the beginning and just power through.

15. Paul Hardcastle...specifically, the mix CD I made.
01). The Circle
02). Northern Lights
03). Slomotion
04). Acoustic Dreams
05). Rainforest
06). Golden Gate
07). Desire
08). Serene
09). Moments In Time
10). Lucky Star
11). Return Of The Rainman
12). Starchild
13). New Dawn
14). Chime
15). Shine
16). London Chimes
17). Peace On Earth

...on one hand, it's "smooth jazz," but far from the Kenny G "Quiet Storm" tripe most people associate with that term. It's like smooth jazz with teeth, strong melodies, interesting beats, and the occasional killer guitar solo.

DEFINITELY my go-to music when I need to do a re-set on my brain.
