Finally saw the new "Planet of the Apes" movie last night (spoilers)
It was a pretty good action movie overall - didn't have the big surprise ending like the original, or even the twist at the end of the Burton remake. In fact, the ending was kind of abrupt after they go over the Golden Gate Bridge.

The ape/chimp effects were pretty good, but I did not see it in 3D. I think if they make a sequel to this one, it will be with a conflict between Caesar and the one-eyed chimp.

Looks like Tom (Draco Malfoy) Felton is going to be typecast as an asshole. James Franco was decent in his role as the lead scientist. However, Freida Pinto was just so stunningly gorgeous that it was distracting to me. Every time she was on the screen, my mouth would drop open and I'd just stare at her. Not that she did a bad job acting, but wow... and, she wasn't even dressed up all that nicely.

1. That one line was the only thing I really hated
- OK maybe hate is strong word - When Malfoy delivered Heston's line it was just weird and didn't work for me. But I enjoyed seeing him get his comeuppance.

Ditto For Pinto.

Overall I enjoyed the movie and look forward to more...I didn't think there could be much of a twist since everybody already knows what happens - We just never knew why or how it happened before now. (well, I didn't know...lol...I mean, I knew the people of the 20th century messed up badly enough to let apes evolve into the master race but I don't remember any of the original movies explaining it in depth. And it wasn't illustrated on my 6th grade Planet of the Apes lunch box. Wish I still had THAT.)

2. well
I think the virus kind of explains why most of the human race dies out. It's been so long since I saw the original movies that I forget what happened in them in terms of how the apes took over the planet.

3. Actually, although the Heston line was very awkward, it made me LOL.

Better yet, in the trailer for 'Conan the Barbarian', don't I see/hear
Conan say "I'm back"... in a not-quite-but-almost sly tip-o'-the-hat
to Arnold?
