1. Try creating a volunteer internship for yourself at a place that you think you would

be a good fit and will have lots of job openings. Write the big boss a letter with your resume and say you will would like the experience and will work for free for a period of time. They owe you because you are free so they will likely get you doing special jobs right down your alley. Network while you are there. At the very worst you could end up with more references in your chosen field.
