Desparately Seeking any Star Wars Galaxies players!
I haven't logged into tthe game in about a month (former guild splintered among huge negativity and backbiting, so I just avoided the game entirely until I thought the big drama would be over. Believe it or not I HATE drama!).

Now I hear that the game is shutting down as of December?
And that our toons & hard earned professions and rewards will just be deleted?!

I REALLY need to know if all my years playing, literally thousands of dollars spent over so many years, is going to go *poof* or will Sony/SOE actually do something RIGHT for once and transfer our toons and all the stuff we've accumulated to the NEW MMORPG game, SWTOR, they're rolling out?

I don't care how much I love the game, or how long I've played
--one of my accounts is even a Beta, since 2003 from before they even started charging--
if they just throw all my hard work away, I will never, ever give them another cent

...like for their "new" MMORPG.

Like we'd be dumb enough to fall for that again? (Hell, are they New Democrats too??!) They'll PROBABLY just toss this new game out a few years down the road and think they'll put something over yet again on their customers.

Shoulda figured, George Lucas has no prinicples at all.
Still, as so familiar in another area we suckers can't help but Hope!

The utter NERVE of them, hawking those "Trading Cards" -- only the Trading Cards sold for about $1- each are strictly virtual, so any bought will end up being deleted (at least this is what I've heard, and nothing official). All that money would have seen better use just flushed down the john!

Luckily I never bought a single deck -- but it's still the f'ing principle!

There's that damn word again. Is it reduced to merely a quaint, old-fashioned notion nowadays?

So ANYHOW,
if anyone has information on this, &/or links to discuss it AT ALL
as Sony's SWG Station doesn't seem to allow any discussion of this at all -- not that I've been able to find, at least;
please let me know!

Please give me good news & tell me all I've been able to glean so far is pure fallacy!

Even if the servers were up now, there's nobody in any of them, each server I went to was deserted -- my toons seemed to be the sole sentient members within all those worlds in all those servers :(

1. You expect Sony to be reasonable? I played Everquest. Sony is not reasonable.
From every indication I have seen, and I am not a current player, they are offering nothing more than some promises of exciting "end of world" events.

I should have known better than to hope...

I don't know how they expect people to continue paying $15- per account per month when these 'awesome badges, loot and rewards' are going to quickly go *poof*! It's not that the endgame play is going to be THAT unique...

I did go over to EA to check out SWTOR, and the graphics are cartoonish.
Sony/SOE did a LOT of major screwing up with SWG, changing the entire gameplay completely at least twice;
but wow did it have gorgeous graphics!

I'd go up into space just to gaze at the beauty, and the different planets were each unique, simply
lovely, realistic artwork.
Well, as much realism as you can get with creatures such as Kimogilas, Rancors, Jabba's giggling simian-like pet and the Sarlacc :D
But you could believe they were real.
At least comparitively.
Even the shadows, the movements of the grass or foliage, or different flowers and trees; usually unique per planet.
Housing and the ability to decorate them were top notch too.

Now they want gamers to digress,
more properly: devolve
from that to tween-type comics.
Ugh. :puke:
Heck, their artists must have missed, en masse, Art 101: Simple Shading :eyes:

Now I'm wondering what nwo to do. I've been a gamer for... well many years now.
Especially in times like we're going through now, I NEED something to distract from utter despair :/

I enjoyed Diablo and Doom, but I need more than just slash 'em/kill 'em/count 'em -- there's got to be something cerebral too; so most adult MMORPG's are out.

And WoW is getting a bit long in the tooth, too; along with it being it's own kind of cartoonish and cosplay'ey.

*sigh*
If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them :)

edit: cleaned up a bunch of typo's, since I'm in Exploder, not FireFox :(
