Happy birthday, Mrs. me!
Tomorrow the courageous woman who decided to spend her life with me turns 59.
This pic, which I took in 2000 when she was 48, best portrays her upbeat personality.
Less than a year a later she was out for a year battling cancer. It was one very
tough year, but the cancer didn't stand a chance, and she beat it hands down.
I can only guess that she saw staying with me as a challenge, being a trained
social worker. I'm not complaining. Happy birthday to one gutsy woman!

I hope her day will be full of love, presents and cake!

I think you both are very lucky in your love for one another...

It is a rare and precious gift.

Congrats to you both on making such a wonderful choice!

6. Thanks from both of us, Peggy!
We have invited about 20 family and friends from all over Germany, and we are all going out to a small
Caribbean restaurant tomorrow night run by some enterprising immigrant from the West Indies. Sounds yummy!

8. Thanks Ellen!
In return, I sent you off a little bit of summer reading.

(Peggy, if you give away the ending, I will personally start the next earthquake with an epicenter in Orange County!)

14. We celerated at the only Haitian restaurant in Düsseldorf
We heard about this place in a tiny article in the Düsseldorf newspaper.

The owner greeted us in perfect German, but she was delighted that some of spoke French, too.
GREAT spicy Csribbean food, and although I don't do alcohol, the others did, and they were
swooning about the fruit-and-coconut filled cocktails.

It's just a tiny place on the Lindenstrasse, and it's a little slow, but WHAT food!!! She kept
bringing us new courses until we said we were full, which we all hated to admit, even when we were.
