Just found a bunch of concert photos from 1986 - U2, Smiths, Police reunion...
Sorry, I don't have a scanner or I'd share. I lost the negatives. I just found an album of GREAT shots from the front row of Bono, the Edge, Morrisey, Johnny Marr and Sting. I'm having a yard sale soon. Anyone think these are worth anything?

I wish I had the negatives. I can't even believe I have these. I remember taking them. I'm really bad about saving stuff. I tend to throw everything into a drawer or closet and then throw it all away without looking at it every few months. These were in a box of stuff my dad sent me from my old room that I hadn't yet totally picked through.

1. A suggestion...
...you might want to contact the major rock magazines that have both a print and online presence, like Rolling Stone, Mojo, etc.

I think you'd stand a better chance of making some cash that way than if you went the garage sale route.

Unfortunately, I'm neither a fan nor a participant on eBay, so I'm not a good judge of your chances there.

If they were autographed, you'd have a better chance with collectors (of course, many of them demand authentication, so that's another wrinkle).

:toast:

I was in the front row at the Amnesty International concert in the Chicago area (Rosemont Horizon) in 86. That's where I got the U2 and Police shots. The Smiths shots I took at the Cabaret Metro, I think. It may have been some other small venue. I can't remember. It was the Queen is Dead tour.

Edit: Smiths were at Aragon Ballroom! I knew Cabaret Metro sounded wrong.

4. I was at that AI show too! That was a great show!

Peter Gabriel, the Neville Brothers and Joan Baez played too. Didn't the Thompson Twins play as well? My photos were taken on a "disk" camera therefore virtually worthless. :hi:

I never got to see the Smiths. I'm jealous!

on edit - I still have the sweat shirt that I bought from the concert,

7. That was a great concert.
I think the seating was a lottery system. Do you remember? We were front row center. It was crazy.

I don't remember Thompson Twins. Peter Gabriel was amazing.

9. My seats we unfortunate - it was on the balcony - almost

behind the stage. Bobo did take to time to flirt with us too which was nice. Peter Gabriel knocked my socks off - especially when he performed Biko. I don't remember if it was a lottery system, I was just so grateful to get tickets at all. You were sooo lucky to get those seats! I think I may still have my ticket stub pasted into a scrap book and I think I have the color program too. :hi: If you ever scan the photos, I'd love to see them. As I said, my "camera" was a Disc - which means that nothing turned out at all. :hi:

5. Way cool!
I remember I was at a U2 concert in '83, so close to the stage I could've grabbed Bono's snakeskin boot. Didn't last long, though--lots of slam dancing, and one wild-eyed guy was swinging around a whisky bottle. My friends and I escaped to the relative peace and quiet of the edge of the crowd (which wasn't big).

6. I just found a bunch of REM/Pylon/Tanzplagen/Side Effects/LoveTractor posters from Athens GA c. 1981
Edited on Sun Jun-12-11 12:37 PM by jpak
some were hand made by REM (or their friends). I collected them off telephone poles.

The posters were for gigs at Tyrones (OC), the 40 Watt, and the I&I Club

I also found a U2 'Boy' LP with a ticket from Dec. 1 1981 gig at the Agora Ballroom in Atlanta (there were about 50 people there an it cost $4 - lol)

and - some original B-52's and REM singles.... I remember buying the REM single from Peter Buck when he worked a Wuxtry's....

:hi:

10. I still haven't found my prized REM and Fleshtones Tyrones poster
or my Stranglers/Gang of Four/Robin Lane & the Chartbusters Tyrones poster

and my REM XTC poster (at the I and I Club in Athens) was stolen at the frame shop.

Damned UGA art students...
