Fans of "The Thorn Birds" check in!
I loved that book, first read it when I was 14 years old. After reading it I begged my mom to let me become Catholic because I wanted to have a love affair with a priest. Go figure.

I'm re-reading it today and the book is still vividly amazing. Great details, passionate love affair - a classic for it's genre. The Mini-Series was one of my favorites too. (I really wanted to be Catholic because I assumed all priests would look like Richard Chamberlin. I was crushed when I found out he was gay in RL and that was about 5 years ago when he came out.)

3. Was that the show with Voltron?
I watched it every Saturday morning! Even got the lunchbox. I didn't know there was a book though.

5. Just finished reading it for the first time and I loved it! Can't believe I missed the mini-series
back in the '80's. Her descriptions of the land and living conditions were incredibly vivid and her characters sadly believable. An excellent read by a very gifted writer, Colleen McCullough.

I just finished her 7 part series "The Masters of Rome"-a look at the fall of the Roman republic, the 100 years prior to and encompassing Julius Caesar's life, ending with the deaths of Anthony and Cleopatra. McCullough did years of serious research and these books show it. Absolutely brilliant.

6. Oh man, I LOVED that book.
I read it traveling from Maine to Nova Scotia and ended up losing it at the airport on my way back home. It made a huge impression on me. I found out later that a friend of mine had been having an affair with her priest....lol.

7. My original copy was destroyed when my apartment flooded
and I just got another copy a few months back. Today, after starting this thread, I decided to buy the DVD and got the version with the Thorn Birds 2 mini series included. TB2 wasn't really that great but it was only a few dollars more.

8. That must have been the first TV mini series
Richard Chamberlain, Rachel somebody her Aussie husband whose name escapes me. I was glued to the TV every week for the that series.

9. Bryan Brown
The whole cast was amazing.

Only Richard Chamberlain showed up for "The Thorn Birds 2 - The Missing Years". I guess they wanted to make money off of the series but the plot was lame. Luke comes back to Drogheda, a custody battle over Dane and of course another romantic getaway at some remote location between Meggie and Ralph. I remember watching it with horror because I'm such a fan of the original book. I guess it was the equivelent to "Gone with the Wind" sequel

10. Bryan Brown, that's it!
The parts I remember from TV was the meetup at the beach house. I was jealous that she lost weight from being depressed. I tried getting depressed so I could lose weight too. Little did I know, I was already depressed and eating like a horse....lol.

11. There are so many scenes from the mini-series that stick in my mind.
Probably number one is Meggie coming down the steps in her first "grown up" dress...I believe it was a rose color. Father Ralph was just standing there, staring.

Oh, and Stuie. I still cry when I think about that scene.
