Patricia Heaton claims she has lost potential roles because of her conservative politics
http://www.popeater.com/2011/05/18/patricia-heaton-david-hunt-versailles/

<snip>
Known around left-leaning Hollywood for her conservative stances on weighty issues like abortion and stem cells, 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Patricia Heaton is happy to explain how important her Christian faith is to her and how it shapes her views and career choices.

"My feeling is all these things come from God and as long as I know I'm staying in line with Him, I don't have to worry if there is backlash," she told me during a visit to AOL's New York offices. "God will open any doors he wants to open and if he closes doors that's fine to."

Telling me that she has many gay friends and doesn't oppose gay marriage, Patricia gets frustrated being automatically lumped together with other conservatives, a characterization she says has cost her possible work.

"We know for a fact there are some people who have said they wouldn't want to work with us because of our politics," she said, with her husband David Hunt adding, "We get lumped in with lunatics."
<snip>

Um, Patricia, you are a lunatic. And one of the reasons you're not getting many roles is probably because you're just not a very good actress.

2. I think she simply has an inflated opinion about her relative
stature in the industry. If she were truly honest with herself, she'd realize that she simply played the wife on a sitcom - and that if she were to look at about a thousand other sitcoms, she'd realize that that type of role has not at all typically been a springboard to a long term, big time career. It's like she can't fathom the concept that offers will get fewer and fewer with each passing year that "Everybody Loves Raymond" has been off the air and fades from public memory.

3. Yes, of course....it's your politics
Nothing whatsoever to do with your lack of acting ability range.

4. Oh come on...she's starring in a hit sit-com on ABC
Where she plays a housewife with an awkward husband and rambunctious children...just...like...she...did...before...

:rofl:

5. Sorry, Patricia
Some of us just don't like you! But then, I don't find people being mean to each other funny or endearing.

7. There seems to be a group of Christians that need to feel persecuted.
I see her name and I avoid whatever she is in. I saw a couple of Raymonds and she stunk the show up so badly that I have never returned.
About halfway through the first Raymond I saw I was running through other actresses who could have done much better in that part.

At least she gets work. There are so, so may who don't.
My sympathy for her is a big fat 0.

11. I don't like how hateful she always was to him.

Like he was a big idiot. Loved it when he got her. Of course I hated Claire Huxtable with a passion most of the time too. I wonder why people even got married if they think the other is an idiot or a loser/incompetent. Don't get it. I don't see why sitcoms do that.

12. It's very possible...
but it's more possible she has lost potential roles because she can't act.

13. yes, cause compared to all the others on Raymond, and all the
other, "wife", "mother", "girlfriend" actors from long cancelled sitcoms, she is just being left in the dust. Everyone has a great role, but her.
