1. Led Zeppelin are critically loved "gods" of rock.
On the other hand, my favorite band, Yes, is universally condemned for having an unnaturally high-pitched singer, long intricate guitar solos, and lyrics that would only make sense to an uber-nerd.

My question has always been, other than all the songs and riffs Zep ripped off from those delta blues guys, what's the big difference?

Personally, I love both bands.

2. They are definitely two sides of the same coin
I am probably a bigger Yes fan than a Led Zeppelin fan but I grew up with both bands on my playlist.

I saw Yes at the Oakland Coliseum on the "Going For The One" tour...they were lean and mean. Wakeman had returned, and his playing was tighter and less noodle-y than it had been in the past. If there's one song you want to see and hear performed live, it's "Starship Trooper" with that killer "Wurm" coda. They did not disappoint.

:toast:

3. Zep = good; Yes = bad
It's a scientific fact! A lyric like "Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there" can in no way be compared favorably to "It's just a spring clean for the May queen."

4. I love both bands as well.........
In fact I was listening to "Fragile" on my lunch break today. I love the Zep, but Yes transports me like no other band. The combination of the music and album covers takes me to my sci-fi happy-place, and has since I was a kid.
