She reminds me of this woman -- both singing and guitar style. I went to see her
play to a small crowd at a resort and, in between sets, my friend and I went out
on the balcony and found her there all alone, enthralled by the lightning storm off
in the distance (we get IN-fuckin'-CREDIBLE lightning storms here). SHE started
talking to us. I think I fell in love a little -- she's a sweetheart, for sure.

When she started her second set, she told the crowd that it looked like rain was
rolling in and she was STARTLED bigtime by the fact that the crowd started cheering
and applauding. Culture shock... she's from NYC and had no idea how much we LOVE
the rain out here in the desert.

She had been one of three musicians in this folk supergroup around 2001 or so...
consisting of her and Dar Williams and Richard Shindell -- called Cry Cry Cry. They
released one fantastic recording, toured and split up. My friend had interviewed
them for his radio program. Tucson was their first live performance -- up to then,
they had only rehearsed together in each others' kitchens and porches. So their
very first live performance together in FRONT of anyone was to a one-person
audience (my friend).
