Once Again, John Peter Lewis Escapes Getting Kicked Off 'American Idol'
Edited on Thu Apr-01-04 09:29 AM by Magic Rat
Hell, the guy has been the worst singer for three straight weeks and he hasn't even made the bottom three once.

On top of that, the guy I like, the red-head, didn't make the bottom three either, and a girl - LaToya London, who was really good, was pushed into the bottom three instead of him.

I mean, is there anyone other than prepubscent girls voting for these people?

Why don't they just call it 'American Cutie' if all they're gonna do is vote for the guy with the pretty face over the women who can actually sing.

Oh, and I didn't like that the pink-haired chick got the boot, she wasn't that bad. After the football player got tossed last week I'm thinking that this John Peter Lewis guy could hum a telephone book and he's win the competition.

1. Hobbit Boy is SAVED! Praise JAYSUS!
my kids and I continue to be baffled as to why that guy is still in there. He is kinda cute, but he CAN'T SING. Paula needs to get over it and not keep him hanging on with her praise. There are better singers in the competition and I think Paula should point that out.

8. His advantage is his major goofy factor.
Really! It is. America loves goofy guys. It's one of the reasons John Denver was as popular as he was. Gomer Pyle? Major goof. Jerry Lewis when he was teamed with Dean Martin? Goofball. 1/2 of the Smothers Brothers? Goofy.

His voice isn't bad when he's singing something with energy. But it's not strong enough to do something simple, quiet and sincere.

George has got a little bit of goofiness going too, but he's got a strong gospelly soul thing going, and has a matureness in his voice that makes him really impressive in that quiet, sincere kinda stuff.

2. I've already decided...
...who I want to win. George Huff. He has an amazing voice. I think he sounds like what Reuben Studdard would have sounded like if he had pushed himself. Reuben really coasted through that show and now he has practically dropped out of sight and is being overshadowed by Clay Aiken. I can't wait to hear more of George since the singers typically get stronger as the competition goes on.

4. Agreed...that guy is really good....
He has everything that previous winners didn't have. A unique voice, energy, and he sounds like he's wringing the hell out of every note, but not in a showy, high pitched vocal gymnast sort of way, more with all of his emotion.

He is the only one I see on that show who just seems to have the overall package as a performer.

7. Unfortunately...
...they are all creaming their jeans over that Fantasia girl. I really don't want her to win because we already have a Macy Gray. Also, almost every time Fantasia sings I only enjoy her up to a point. She has a way of taking a sudden quantum leap into ANNOYING.

11. Didn't like Fantasia at first, but do now.
Her Macie Gray thing bugged me at first, but she's shown she has range and originality beyond her quirky voice. And she plays to the crowd and the camera really well.

16. you listening to the same guy I am?
he has an okay voice, but it's far from amazing . . . the only one of the bunch who has demonstrated real star potential has been LaToya London, though her performance this week was below par . . . but coming in lower than John Stevens? . . . even he knew that was ridiculous . . . looked like he was about to cry . . .

18. Sorry, George gets my vote.
His voice rocks. I'd love to hear him sings some blues because he has that kind of whiskey and cigarette voice although I'm sure he's probably never smoked or drank in his life.

3. That red headed guy is horrible...
He constantly looks like a deer in the headlights...he shows no discernable personality beyond being a faux rat pack wannabe.

Maybe it's because he reminds me of my freshman year college roommate who was a theater guy who mined the same shtick and would wake my hung over ass up on Saturday mornings by blasting the Saturday with Sinatra radio show.

Ugh. I'm getting shivers just thinking about it.

That John Peter Lewis guy isn't great, but he's got more of an individual voice and personality than anyone else on there at this point.

6. Red Headed guy is an impersonator, not a singer.
Edited on Thu Apr-01-04 09:54 AM by Ready4Change
Whenever he can use a Frank Sinatra song he sounds, well, like Sinatra.

But whenever he doesn't have a Frank template he is just totally lost. Can't carry a tune, doesn't know how to move, looks nervous, etc...

However, he's does a great Sinatra. When this is over he's probably got a line of gigs in Vegas doing that.

About a million.

10. I agree
Red-headed guy, John Stevens I think is his name, is the worst in competition. But I do get a kick out of watching him try to dance, or even trying to move to music.

5. Did you see the look on the red-headed guys face?
I can't even remember his name, poor kid. He knew he should have been the one gone last night, if not at least in the bottom two. He looked like he was ready to cry.

I wonder if he really even wants to be there anymore, he knows he does not have near the talent of some of the others. But I guess he will have to wait until his fan base grows tired of him.

14. AGREED!!!!
I absolutely could not believe the bottom three. None of them deserved to be there.

For the record, a few other people besides prepubescent girls vote - after all, I'm 38. I can assure you that I DID NOT vote for JPL.
