The Milwaukee PBS station...
Last night they ran a segment of "Pioneers Of Television," this one was about Science Fiction.

They looked at Gene Roddenberry, Irwin Allen and Rod Serling.

The story about how Shatner got the inter-racial kiss on Star Trek is a howler.

Seems some network big shot said no.
Now they had already shot the scene WITH the kiss.
But the network big shot insisted on shooting it again, without.

So Shatner and Nichols re-shot it.
With Shatner crossing his eyes. :D

So the scene with the kiss was kept.

1. Did they mention also how...
...the kiss was supposed to be between Spock and Uhura but Shatner pulled rank?
(at least that's how I recall the story)
