29. I'd forgotten both of those films but watched them over and over on cable...
..."Eddie and the Cruisers"...that's real "cinematic junk food" for you, but it was so hard not to watch it, especially the "I'm Eddie Wilson" moment.

13. I agree, but only because "rock" was used intead of blues.
In that case, the Blues Brothers is tops. ;)

14. Spinal Tap, but another one I really like is Airheads
With Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and Adam Sandler (before his shtick got too annoying). Also Michael Richards, Michael McKean. And you have to love a movie in which Lemmy has a cameo! :D

22. Celebration at Big Sur
That's an obscure concert film I saw in the 70s in the theater.
I remember Neil Young playing a song about ballooons on his 12-string and I was impressed by that.

"Tommy" -- if you weren't stoned when you go in you will definitely be stoned when you come out!!!

"The Kids are Alright" -- I love it b/c I'm a Who fan. The fake commercial with Steve Martin recommending a hotel for rock stars is great. He opens the door and Keith Moon is lying there in a wave of soapsuds. ROFL!

"Gimme Shelter" -- the movie about the Stones and the stabbing at Altamont was boring. They just kept the camera on Mick a lot and seemed to make him look bad for his lack of reaction to the stabbing. They could have actually ASKED the other guys about their opinions. I don't like Grey Gardens either. The Maysles point their cameras at the subject and don't believe in editing out the repetitive and tiresome parts.

I love HELP! because to me the Beatles, to my little schoolgirl brain, were three sexgods and a drummer. I knew they were fabulously talented. That was quite obvious.

24. Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny
it's about as real a depiction of the rock star journey as I've ever seen. As satisfying as Spinal Tap or Fear of a Black Hat. It's sort of a Pilgrim's Progress of rock star-ed-ness.

Another good one is The Life and Times of Tom Terrifico, although that's more country rock. it does feature Merle Hagard, Chris Christopherso, Levon Helm and the best impersonation of an actual 70's groupie/granny I've ever seen.
