moon is several centuries...and on top of that, a full eclipse of the full moon.

It is absolutely cloudless in New Jersey.

Perfect!!! Mysterious!! Rare and wonderful!

If you can't get up at three a.m. to look at this with your kids, there is no real point in being a parent, I think.

We're so excited.

1. Some of us need our sleep!
But I'm not a parent, so maybe you'll forgive me?

3. Well, I've been a chronic insomniac my whole life, so it won't feel all that unusal.
I'm having a hell of a week at work, busy, busy, busy in a good way - meetings all week right up until Christmas - but I won't miss this.

Alas, it is completely clouded over and will be for the foreseeable future...

Enjoy your viewing!

6. Yes!!
My college-aged daughter and I planned it this morning. We are having a snowstorm right now, but we are hoping to still see it.
I can't wait, I called up my dad, and brothers, to alert them to this event.
I agree about the parenting part. Although, a few years ago I wouldn't be so eager to spend time with her. She has finally returned to being the loveable girl I once knew. Those teen years are a ***** we won't go there.

7. Totally the heck overcast here
Maybe it'll clear - considering how little sleep I've been getting, maybe I should just crash in my home office and see if the clouds part during the night...

8. After the snow goes away I might be able to see it.
Looks like there may be a break in the clouds in a few hours...

9. Its the solstice and the full moon and the eclipse, and I don't know
what else, but I will just sleep. I really don't think there will be anything earth shattering about it, and if there is, I will know it, even if I am asleep.

14. I could see the moon just a bit ago since the cloud cover rolled away
Edited on Mon Dec-20-10 10:36 PM by tigereye
but apparently it will be cloudy here during the eclipse. Since my son is on his winter break now, might be worth getting up to have a look to see if we can see anything...

If he had school tomorrow, I might not be so willing, even with my love of celestial events... :D last one was in, what, 1632? Something like that...

16. I woke up and saw a bit of it around 4:30 a.m. here..
then went back out a few minutes later and a huge bank of clouds had covered it up -- I got lucky to see just a bit!

Not always total, but always full. The sun's right behind us.
