I wanted very much to gloat about the Heat winning, but Bob Feller has passed

..so instead I send my condolences to Clevelanders, as well as the residents of Van Meter, IA (Fellers hometown and site of his museum)

2. When I was but a lad...

When I was about 11 or 12, I had the good fortune to meet Mr. Feller at a minor league baseball game. With it being a scheduled event, everyone received a photo of him upon entering the ballpark. Interestingly, during the game, Mr. Feller was walking around the stands and spotted my father and me sitting in the bleachers. He actually came up and sat with us for a little bit and talked. He also signed my photo.

To make this story complete, the previous year in school, I had read and written a book report on Mr. Feller's autobiography. Needless to say, I was quite excited to meet and talk with him.
