22. A decent Scotch Whisky and some fine tobacco

turns even the worst day into a pleasant and relaxing evening.

23. 18 year old single malt scotch -

(Glenfiddich if you must know), and after dinner I shall have a truly wonderful 30 year old Ruby Port along with fresh walnuts and and a nice aged Stilton, whilst smoking a very nice Cohiba that I have aged in my personal humidor for several years now. Why all this conspicuous consumption, you may ask? I retired, at 50, ten years ago yesterday. Yes, that means that I have hit the dread Six Oh. Which sucks, but it certainly beats the alternative.

And, also in honor of the occasion, a couple of days ago I replaced my "ride" with something more in keeping with my "senior status". My former ride was a Mini Cooper "S". Which I dearly loved. But which the ladies that are, and were, in my life apparently did not. And no, I will not reveal what my new ride may be. It would make me sound too much like a Pube, which I most certainly am not - all that I am doing is celebrating one of life's milestones.

29. Sinking a bottle of red tonight

Wrongo Dongo. Fabulous wine. Merlot-like tannins that blossom into huge fruit in the midpalate, but which taper elegantly into tobacco and leather notes and a dry, clipped finish. It was on sale for eight dollars American. I usually put a lot of fuss into picking the Thanksgiving wines, but I may just show up with this baby instead.
