My husband had a heart attack tonight (wed. night). We almost didn't make it to the hospital. They did a cardiac cath and removed a clot, and put in 2 stints. The doctor said he was doing better but isn't out of the woods yet.

He seemed to be doing ok, when he kicked me out to come home.

He's only 43, this doesn't seem real. I can't stop crying now that I'm home.

So I'm asking for prayers and vibes, for my husband's health.

16. My head is spinning...

I just got back from the hospital. They moved my husband (this afternoon) from CICU to CCU (step down unit). The doctor gave us a diagram of the heart and where my husbands stints went, and where he has MULTIPLE blockages, from 40% to 85%. Last night they took care of the area that had a 100% blockage. My mom was there and she's a nurse, (always worked ICU) and she said he's lucky to be alive...there was a bunch more stuff that I'm still trying to process.

He's on all kinds of meds, and will probably have to go back for additional stints when he's stronger. The doctor said he's probably had mild attacks and ignored them, and had he paid attention this probably wouldn't have had happened.

Hubby doesn't remember having any kind of "real" chest pain before. He's always been a pretty healthy person. Rarely gets sick, he's not a couch potato, and though his diet isn't perfect, it isn't really that bad. But we're going to improve it, and more exercise.

I will say the advances and technology we have today are amazing. The doctors and nurses were great! I'm going to try and get a little sleep since I haven't been to sleep.

19. Thank you for the update

That's not unusual from what I've read. That is, people having mild heart attacks and not realizing it. In fact, one article I read said ER staff will often find Rolaids or Tums in a patient's pocket b/c the patient thought it was indigestion or heart burn.

Do get some rest. You won't be any good unless you take care of yourself. But you know that. I'm glad your mom is a nurse & able to help... and very glad to hear your husband's out of ICU!
